Newsletter from Mr. Gulley April 2011
Dear Parents,
I thought that you might like to know that our collection for Red Nose Day has reached £3090! I am amazed by your generosity. We have sent about £1000 to buy two shelter boxes to Japan to assist there and the rest is going to the Red Nose Day Fund. Well done!
I would also like to say thank you to all those parents who have sent in donations for our Swimming Pool bills, as requested in my last letter. This really is essential to enable us to keep our swimming pool open. Thank you very much.
Sadly I have to remind you that dinner tickets will cost £2 per day after Easter. I do, however, have some good news in this respect. We are involved in a scheme to encourage children to have a nutritious school meal every day of the week. The project is called ‘Five for a Fiver’ and will run from May 9th for five weeks. If you buy five dinner tickets and your child has a school meal every day in those weeks it will only cost you £5 for the week’s tickets. This is being subsidised by the Local Authority and the PCT. We hope to double our numbers taking a school meal to encourage the authorities to make the project a permanent one. We also will be hosting five sessions when a master chef will be cooking and passing on tips and then the ingredients will be supplied by Waitrose at a cost of only £1. More details will follow after Easter. We are one of only two schools to be involved in this.
A final reminder – we break up at 3 o’clock on Wednesday!
