Buttercup Room ( Ages 2 to 3)
In Buttercup Room the children are aged approximately two years. Between the ages of 2 years 6 months and three years of age (or when funded) children progress to Bluebell, Sunflower or Poppy Room if this is appropriate to their stage of development. Buttercup Room children are encouraged to gain independence and helped to develop confidence with appropriate support from caring, knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff.
Your child’s progress is monitored and recorded individually in the form of an electronic Learning Journey (Tapestry). This document will contain special achievements, observations and photographs. This will be shared with you throughout your child’s time in the nursery and will continue to show a record of development and progression. You will also be able to add and share to your child's Learning Journey, any special achievements, special events and photographs they have accomplished. Your child will be allocated a Key Person once they have settled into Buttercup Room to support them on their ‘journey’.
When your child is aged between two years 6 months and three years a summary of your child’s development will be provided to you, using the 3 prime and specific areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage as a basis for the summary. The developmental check is then carried out with a health visitor who can use the information provided by nursery to ensure the child’s needs are being fully met. This two way sharing of information is an important part of your child’s next steps.
Toilet training is usually a big part of a two year old's life and we would like to make this experience as carefree and enjoyable as possible. When this time arrives we will work with parents to find the best ways of supporting your child through this process.
Buttercup Room can have up to 26 children at any one time. We follow the 1: 4 ratio (1 adult for every 4 children) for this age group to ensure maximum safety and well- being. Your child has access to full time day care to suit your needs.
Staff will always do their best to discuss any queries that may arise and accommodate your needs where possible. Your views and opinions are important to us. Daily information is shared verbally with parents/ carers at the end of each day.
