Friends of Temple Sutton
This year there is no Christmas Bazaar due to lack of helpers to organise and run events. However, the Friends did not want to disappoint the children and a Christmas Sale will take place on 8th December. A variety of hand-made gifts suitable for the whole family will be available. If you wish your child to take part, please send money in an envelope with their name and class on the front.
~~~~~ALL WELCOME ~~~~~
The Circle of Friends’ A.G.M. will be held on Friday, 23rd September in the East Hall at 3.45p.m. Why not come along and see what we do. We desparately need more helpers who can spare an odd hour or two to help us raise funds which benefit the children at the school.
Please put a note in the green letterbox by the front entrance if you are available to help on the day – even if it is only for an hour.
Congratulated the COF for a quick start, the events had been brilliantly organised and he is very proud of what had been achieved.
Mr Gulley confirmed the school would and to hand them to the office.RSExpressed their gratitude to the staff that have helped this year which included teachers, office staff and learning support.RSFGMentioned the current COF display boards explaining that our only outdoor board is in unrepairable condition and the indoor board is not easily seen.Mr Gulley said he will sort this out and will hopefully supply a new outdoor board in a more prominent position and also move the indoor board where it too can be seen easily.He also suggests getting a board put into the Children’s Centre.RSGCFGRSListed the COF coming planned events:
Pamper Evening – doing well lots of interest – Renata & Hannah to go to another pamper evening to get an idea of working and to give our details out.Christmas Fair – Saturday 4thDecember – advertising soon.Christmas Disco starting at 4pm, SB confirms that Alan Flynn will be doing the Disco for us at a reduced cost.Mr Capps suggests 4.30pm rather than 4.00pm,Mr Gulley advised better straight after school and it is agreed this will be made easier if Years 3-4 could come to school dressed for the Disco so no need to change. Everyone agrees so the times of the Disco are set for 3.30pm-5pm Years 3-4 and 5.30pm-7pm for Years 5-6.FG asked that parents come in one door to collect and out the other side of the hall in order to keep the hall clear and to make sure children are collected safely.Quiz – RS mentions that people upset that the quiz was cancelled at last minute, FG advises he is sorry about this but the quiz does not work unless lots of people are present and confirms that quiz will go ahead regardless but future quizzes will need to be better advertised.RSHanded FG a cheque for £5000, FG explained that this money is essential and that the school needs funds like this.RSThe Committee for the coming year was agreed as:RS – ChairSB – Joint Vice ChairRK – Joint Vice ChairMO – TreasurerHFH – SecretaryBank signatories remain unchanged.FGRepeated his thanks to the group.KNThanked the COF for the support it has given to the wildlife garden and explains that it has made a big difference to the students.FG advises received award for Southend in Bloom.RSAsks if there is any other business?FG – advises Manager of Matalan is happy to donate surplus stock to the school – HFH suggests maybe putting on a fashion show staring pupils.KNCongratulated NJ on the Uniform Sale figures, RS suggests we know when these are taking place, NJ explains not always set in stone but will let us know.RSAsked if the COF could put credit on a SIM card to make calls regarding events etc, FG agrees and permission is given to go ahead.HFHAsked if there was any possibility of office space, or cupboard for a computer and printer for COF to do work from, FG advises he will try but very unlikely.GCReminded the committee to make sure all paperwork is checked before copied or sent out.
Some members of the Circle of Friends cleared the wildlife garden which had become overgrown. We would like to make this an annual event and any help would be appreciated.
