WHAT CAN CHILDMINDERS OFFER EXTENDED SCHOOLS?
Childcare and parenting support are an important part of extended services, signposted or provided by schools. In addition to the childcare offered by Children’s Centres and other organisations childminders can offer flexible, high quality childcare tailored to meet a family’s needs.
Childminders can offer:
- High quality care in a home environment
- Flexible childcare either before or after school
- Childcare in school holidays
- Alternative childcare to breakfast and after school clubs
- Early Years Education through Accredited childminders
- Care for siblings
- Childcare near to family homes within local communities
- Care to learn scheme – for students up to the age of 19 years who wish to have their children cared for whilst they are at school or college
- Respite care for families who are experiencing difficulties
- Marvellous Minders Scheme – Respite care for families who have a child with disabilities
Working Tax Credits can be used to pay for childminding services and many also accept childcare vouchers which are issued by some employers.
If you think that childminding services could help one of your families, either on a regular basis or during a difficult time, please contact:
